Any process utilizing energy contributes to carbon dioxide gas
emission in the atmosphere. This happens as 90% of the energy
utilized by world comes from burning of fuels like Coal,
Petroleum products etc. The released carbon dioxide increases
with increase in demand of energy. Carbon dioxide gas is
major constituent of Green house Gases. If this green house Gas
layer around the earth becomes thicker, temperature of
atmosphere around the earth will increase to non tolerable limits.
Such temperature increase is also causing changes in duration
of seasons and abnormal events in atmosphere. At present
rate of consumption, none of the fuel deposits would last for
more than100 years.

Thus to slow down increase in green house gases and to
conserve available energy recourses for future, ENERGY
CONSERVATION and INCREASE IN ENERGY EFFICIENCY are must.
This also brings in competitiveness in industry due to reduction in
energy costs and possibility of availing Carbon credits.
Government of India, under Energy conservation act 2001, has
formed Bureau Of Energy Efficiency (BEE), to undertake this
